Our Opinion: |
Take the premium reductions that don't reduce your coverage.
Why not reduce your coverage? We say, see first how the new court cases play out with those people that have lowered their coverage. |
STEPS TO SAVINGS
- When you receive your renewal packet, ask to reduce your MCCA fee to $100 (each vehicle was charged $221 per year, but with this reform, each vehicle will only be charged $100 per year) - DO KEEP IN MIND, this changes you to the new Order of Priority, so if you have people on your policy that are not residents of your home OR relatives, this may not be great for you
- Ask if your company is allowing for other rate changes in the middle of your policy period without changing coverage - talk the ramifications through with the agent
- Take advantage of the Multi-policy discount you get from an Umbrella policy, if offered. Comparative negligence having been reintroduced makes this all the more important, and sometimes this is a "free" policy due to the savings with the discount on your other policies.
Should you reduce your PIP? No. The savings do NOT justify the reduction in coverage.
